In Kalamaria, in the Byzantio area, the construction of a seven-story residential building with pilotis, roof and attic was recently completed. The building is located on Thermaikos Street in the north of the municipality of Kalamaria.
In this building, the biggest challenge was designing residences on a small, perfectly triangular plot – a rare thing for the urban fabric of the city of Thessaloniki – that would meet modern housing needs and follow modern design trends.
The main morphological characteristics of the building are the two distinct volumes that are differentiated both in plan and in height. The individual volumes created by the bay windows and the enclosing of the balconies contribute to the logic of the scaling of the volumes, while their color contrast with the body of the building adds interest to the central aspect of the building.
The large openings in the living areas of the apartments in combination with the glass railings of the balconies allow for unobstructed views and the visual and functional integration of the interior and exterior spaces of the apartments, contributing to the production of quality living spaces.
